Naju City in Jeollanam-do will implement safety measures for senior citizen jobs, including expanding heatwave safety education and conducting on-site inspections of outdoor activity work units, until the end of August.
According to the city on the 21st, the number of participants in senior citizen jobs this year is 3,805, of which 1,240 (33%) are engaged in outdoor activities such as local environmental improvement and traffic safety monitoring.
In preparation for the early arrival of hot weather compared to previous years, the city is flexibly adjusting working hours and providing guidance on heatwave coping strategies and emergency response methods through safety education for participants.
Additionally, efforts will be made to conduct on-site inspections to carefully check whether participants are taking sufficient breaks, staying hydrated, and monitoring their body temperature during work.
Mayor Yoon Byung-tae stated, “We will prioritize the health of elderly citizens vulnerable to heat-related illnesses due to the early heatwave and do our best in prevention and management so they can work safely.”
