On the 21st, the 4th Trial Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Eun-mi) announced that six individuals involved in obstructing the judicial order, including Jo Mo, who gave false testimony after prior organized collusion in a jeonse loan fraud case (2 persons for subornation of perjury, 5 persons for perjury), were indicted without detention.
Previously, Jo was prosecuted in custody for recruiting false tenants and fraudulently obtaining a total of 13.9 billion KRW in loans from financial institutions. However, during the trial, the prosecution's investigation revealed that the recruiters of false tenants and the false tenants themselves, who participated in the crime, gave false testimony as if the actual tenants had resided in the properties.
The prosecution believes that under the direction of Jo, the mastermind who exploited the jeonse loan system established to stabilize housing for ordinary citizens to embezzle a large sum, these individuals systematically committed perjury. Through the investigation, all those who committed perjury and those who instigated it were identified.
A representative of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office stated, "We will continue to conduct thorough investigations into offenders who disrupt the judicial order, strictly punishing not only those who commit perjury but also those who instigate it, to establish the awareness that 'lying in court will not be tolerated, and there are consequences for lying.' We will do our utmost to ensure this perception is firmly rooted."
