With "Decision on Acceptance of 7 Standing Committee Chairs at the Party Meeting on the 24th"

Choo Kyung-ho: "Democratic Party Consistently Displays Arrogant Attitude"

The People Power Party plans to hold a party caucus on the 24th to decide whether to continue negotiations on participation in the National Assembly standing committees and the organization of the assembly.

Choo Kyung-ho, the floor leader of the People Power Party, told reporters after the party caucus held at the National Assembly on the same day, "At today's caucus, we heard from members about the issue of the seven standing committee chairpersons and how to proceed with future floor activities," revealing this.

According to Floor Leader Choo, even at this caucus, responses were divided between members who maintain a hardline stance and those demanding responsible activities as the ruling party. He explained, "Since I have now heard sufficient opinions from the members, I will take some time for final consideration," adding, "On Monday morning, we will hold another caucus to decide the final direction."

Floor Leader Choo also said, "Although we proposed various negotiation plans to take care of people’s livelihoods and normalize the National Assembly, the Democratic Party of Korea has consistently stuck to their initial position without any movement, showing stubbornness and an arrogant attitude," adding, "In this process, I deeply regret that Speaker Woo has made no effort at mediation."

Speaker Woo has ordered the completion of the organization of the assembly negotiations by the 23rd and plans to preside over a meeting between the floor leaders of both parties on the day to attempt a final settlement.

Regarding the meeting on the same day, Floor Leader Choo said, "If there is anything to discuss, we will meet anytime. Our door to dialogue is always open, so we continue to talk and negotiate until the very end, waiting for the Speaker’s mediation."

He also criticized the Democratic Party of Korea for holding a legislative hearing on the special prosecutor law for Chae Sang-byung by convening a full meeting of the National Assembly’s Legislation and Judiciary Committee. Floor Leader Choo said, "The fact that the Democratic Party is running the standing committee unilaterally and recklessly is not a normal situation."

When asked by reporters whether he considers it appropriate that witnesses such as former Ambassador to Australia and former Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-seop refused to take an oath, he avoided a direct answer, saying, "I think each witness made an appropriate judgment."
