Exploring Sustainable Tourism Strategies
Gyeonggi-do Anseong City announced that Mayor Kim Bora will visit Chiang Mai, Thailand, from the 23rd to the 28th for a six-day training on Community-Based Tourism (CBT).
Chiang Mai is a leading region in Community-Based Tourism (CBT), presenting the philosophy of 'tourism by the community, for the community.' This training will be attended by seven cities and counties, including Anseong City, Dong-gu and Nambu districts of Gwangju City, Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province, Sinan and Hwasun counties in Jeonnam, and Yangyang County in Gangwon, all members of the Sustainable Tourism Local Government Council. During the training, the delegation will review CBT policies and implementation cases, and share sustainable tourism examples with Chiang Mai and major local governments. They will also discuss cooperation methods between local governments, including international exchanges between regional universities.
Mayor Kim will visit the Chiang Mai Tourism Authority, Chiang Mai Provincial Government, Maejo University, ISDSI educational institution, and Mae Kampong to observe excellent cases utilizing local resources. Through this, Anseong City aims to explore ways to apply CBT to its key project of developing a 'Lake Tourism City.'
Mayor Kim will particularly sign a memorandum of understanding for ▲ exchange for sustainable tourism development between Anseong City and Maejo University ▲ discovery and exchange of cases to promote sustainable tourism ▲ mutual exchange and cooperation between local universities and Maejo University.
