Gochang-gun Promotes 'New Farmer School Education' for Return-to-Farming and Return-to-Village Residents

The Jeonbuk Gochang-gun Stay-type Agricultural Startup Support Center promoted the New Farmer School education on the 20th, targeting returnees to farming and rural areas within 5 years and prospective returnees.

According to the county on the 21st, this education was prepared to solve the difficulties faced by returnees in acquiring information on housing and settlement bases.

Since the beginning of the year, the county has been inviting various active residents in Gochang, such as Kim Chun-ok (President of the Rural Leaders Association of Gochang-gun) and Lee Jeom-soon (President of the Life Improvement Association of Gochang-gun), to provide education for stable settlement.

On the 20th, a New Farmer School education program was conducted targeting new farmers and returnees to farming and rural areas with less than five years of experience, as well as prospective farmers and returnees.

Professor Cho Chang-hwan (Woosuk University) was invited to the education session and urged, under the theme "Open the Future with New Thinking," that "agriculture requires continuous self-development and innovation, and one must settle in rural areas through bonds with local residents."

The Agricultural Technology Center provides basic farming technology education annually for returnees to farming and rural areas.

They promote education on new income crop cultivation techniques, pest and disease control, operation of agricultural machinery, policies and laws related to returnees to farming and rural areas, and field trips to learn about Gochang.

In addition, they are promoting on-site practical training for new farmers, item-specific education for returnees, and Watermelon Melon Academy education to help returnees establish stable income based on systematic farming techniques.

Hyun Haeng-yeol, Director of the Gochang-gun Agricultural Technology Center, said, "We will strive to help returnees who are starting their second life broaden their understanding of rural life through the New Farmer School education and successfully realize the new life they have dreamed of."
