"Expecting advantage in year-end Orca project bidding"

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries is accelerating its efforts to secure the 'Orka Project,' a 3.35 trillion KRW-scale next-generation submarine project for the Polish Navy.

On the 21st, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries announced that it participated in the 'International Maritime Security Forum' held in Warsaw, Poland, where it presented maritime security solutions for Poland.

Co-hosted by the Polish Naval Academy and the Warsaw Security Council, this forum is a leading academic conference discussing Poland's maritime security issues. Marking its 9th session this year, the forum was attended by 11 global shipbuilding companies, Polish Navy and defense industry experts, and maritime security stakeholders, providing a platform to communicate about the challenges and future of Poland's maritime security environment.

As a key partner of the Polish Navy, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries delivered a presentation and participated in a panel discussion during the session titled 'Defense Industry Development Plans for the Modernization of the Polish Navy,' offering solutions for Poland's maritime security challenges and the development of the navy and defense industry.

Among the 11 global shipbuilders that submitted letters of intent to participate in the Polish Navy's next-generation submarine project, the Orka Project, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries was the only company to simultaneously propose two platforms: a 3,000-ton submarine (KSS-Ⅲ PL) and a 2,000-ton development submarine (HDS-2300).

Regarding this, Colonel Kulagin, Head of Logistics for the Polish Navy, commented, "Unlike other companies, it was very impressive that HD Hyundai Heavy Industries presented two alternatives for the Polish Navy to choose from in advancing the Orka Project."

The Orka Project is a new submarine construction project for the Polish Navy, involving the acquisition of three submarines. The project scale amounts to approximately 2.25 billion euros (about 3.35 trillion KRW). Through winning this project, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries plans to strengthen its relationship with the Polish Navy and promote industrial cooperation with Polish shipbuilding companies.

Joo Won-ho, Head of the Special Ship Business at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, stated, "Based on world-class shipbuilding capabilities, we have proposed customized submarine solutions that meet both the Polish Navy's requirements and the development needs of the local shipbuilding industry. We will do our best to gain a competitive edge in the Orka Project bidding expected by the end of this year."
