Eunpyeong-gu Rapid Activation of Comprehensive Support Situation Room for Heatwave Measures

Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it has held an emergency meeting for a comprehensive heatwave countermeasure and swiftly activated the 'Comprehensive Heatwave Countermeasure Support Situation Room' following the issuance of a heatwave advisory.

The 'Comprehensive Heatwave Countermeasure Support Situation Room' focuses on preventing casualties and managing facility safety, strengthening safety management in response to the heatwave.

The district is concentrating on safety checks by visiting and making welfare calls to vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone, disabled persons, and those with mobility difficulties. It also conducts activities to prevent casualties among workers, such as implementing rest time policies during extreme heat at construction sites and performing on-site inspections.

Additionally, 93 shade shelters and 11 smart rest areas are operated, and water spraying is intensively carried out during the daytime peak temperature hours to prevent urban heat island effects on roads. A total of 214 locations, including welfare centers, senior centers, libraries, and large stores, are designated and operated as heatwave shelters.

In particular, cooling fog systems are operated at three locations including Bulgwangcheon Stream and children's parks, and heatwave action guidelines are promoted through SNS and outdoor electronic billboards to help citizens respond easily to the heatwave.

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, "Due to global warming, the heatwave has arrived earlier than usual. We ask everyone to refrain from outdoor activities and outings as much as possible during the heatwave and to take special care of their health by staying well hydrated."
