Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon Directly Criticizes Lee Jae-myung
"Lee, It Is Advisable to Quit Politics"
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon directly criticized Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung's silence on the 'father remark,' saying, "Does Leader Lee enjoy this kind of flattery competition?" and added, "A sensible person would have immediately corrected such flattering remarks that ultimately harm both the party and himself."
On the 20th, Mayor Oh wrote on his Facebook, "Yesterday (the 19th), after witnessing the unprecedented flattery by Supreme Council member Kang Min-gu, I observed Leader Lee's reaction," and criticized, "Surprisingly, Leader Lee has still done nothing." He added, "Seeing this 'father remark,' the word 'baejin,' meaning a flatterer who bows even to the dust fallen from the chariot of the powerful, came to mind." Kang Min-gu, the newly appointed Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party, mentioned his recently deceased father during a meeting the previous day and said, "The father of the Democratic Party is Leader Lee Jae-myung."
Mayor Oh pointed out, "If Leader Lee is the father of the Democratic Party, then what about President Kim Dae-jung or President Roh Moo-hyun?" How far must the level of politics in our country fall?" He emphasized, "Leader Lee is not only the leader of the largest party in the National Assembly but is also simultaneously facing unprecedented criminal charges in political history," and added, "He himself knows better than anyone that it would not be surprising if he goes to prison at any time."
He said, "In this situation, turning the Democratic Party into something like North Korea's single leadership system is nothing more than an expression of anxiety," and fiercely attacked, "Rather than greedily aiming for the presidency, it would be a desirable choice for both himself and the people to quit politics altogether even now." He also stated, "The Democratic Party, Korean politics, and the entire country are losing dignity and falling because of Leader Lee, who is a criminal defendant."
