Leading Technology Development in Domestic SSD Forensics
The research team led by Professor Song Hajoo from the Department of Computer and Artificial Intelligence Engineering at Pukyong National University and DoubleO Co., Ltd. (CEO Jung Myunghwan) have been jointly selected for the '2024 Industry-Academia-Research Collabo R&D' project by the Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs (TIPA).
Pukyong National University's Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation and DoubleO Co., Ltd. recently signed an agreement for the '2024 Industry-Academia-Research Collabo R&D' project at TIPA's Sejong headquarters.
This project aims to promote innovative growth and job creation for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by revitalizing collaborative research and development among industry, academia, and research institutes. Out of more than 300 preliminary research projects that passed the first phase, the top 10 were selected based on technological merit, marketability, and business potential. The second phase, focusing on commercialization R&D, will be conducted over two years with a total budget of 320 million KRW.
Through this project, the teams will develop ▲ a high-speed data recovery and extraction device for NAND Flash memory semiconductors with LDPC descrambling applied, and ▲ automated memory semiconductor forensic technology integrated with artificial intelligence (AI).
A university official stated that being selected for this project is expected to bring about innovative changes in the domestic SSD forensic market, positioning their research at the forefront of the global forensic market.
Professor Song Hajoo's team and DoubleO Co., Ltd. have been collaborating on industry-academia research and development for over three years. They are recognized as exemplary cases of local industry-academia cooperation, having co-hosted DebConf24, the Debian Conference, this year and being selected as Branch 88 at the Busan Industry-Academia Cooperation Center of Busan Technopark. Their close cooperation and innovative research achievements were acknowledged in the final selection for this project.
Professor Song Hajoo said, "Through this research, we will be able to greatly enhance the speed and accuracy of memory data forensic technology," and added, "In particular, we aim to secure technological superiority in the SSD forensic market and contribute to strengthening technological competitiveness both domestically and internationally."
Jung Myunghwan, CEO of DoubleO Co., Ltd., stated, "Through this research, we aim to become a leader in semiconductor memory forensic technology," and added, "Industry-academia cooperation has enabled the development of innovative new technologies, and we are very pleased to be able to provide even better services to our clients as a result."
