Kim Jeong-hyun Appointed as Chairman of the Gwangju City Party Committee of the People Power Party and as Chairman of the Gwangsan Gap Party Association

Kim Jeong-hyun, chairman of the Gwangsan-gu (Gap) Party Member Council, was elected as the chairman of the People Power Party Gwangju Metropolitan City Party Committee.

According to the People Power Party Gwangju Party Committee on the 20th, at the 4th Steering Committee meeting of 2024 held that afternoon, the appointment of Kim Jeong-hyun as the new chairman of the Gwangju Party Committee was unanimously decided by the steering committee members.

Chairman Kim was the sole candidate who applied in the recruitment for the Gwangju Party Committee chairman on the 17th. After approval by the Central Party Emergency Response Committee on the 24th, he will lead the Gwangju Party Committee for the next year.

The next chairman of the city party committee, Kim Jeong-hyun, plans to reorganize the city party organization along with preparing for the party convention to be held on July 23.

In particular, he intends to serve as a bridge with the Central Party to reflect the public sentiment changes after the general election, secure responsible party members, establish the party base, and ensure that major local issues proceed smoothly.

Chairman Kim Jeong-hyun said, “Overcoming the defeat in the general election is the most urgent task for the Gwangju Party Committee right now,” and added, “Based on my experience as a party committee chairman, I will strengthen communication with party members and expand their participation to transform the Gwangju Party Committee into a thriving organization through my best efforts.”

He continued, “While serving as the party committee chairman, I have traveled to the Central Party over 200 times to act as a bridge for regional development, and in 2022, I achieved results such as attracting the National Gwangju Youth Treatment and Rehabilitation Center and including the new hospital at Chonnam National University in the preliminary feasibility study target projects,” adding, “I will continue to consult with the Central Party for regional development.”
