"European Organizations Propose Strengthening Solidarity with K-Battery"
The Korea Battery Industry Association announced on the 20th that it held the 'Korea-EU Battery Plus Forum' to strengthen battery cooperation between Korea and the European Union (EU) at 'InterBattery Europe 2024.'
The Battery Association organized this forum to provide local European expert advice on EU battery regulatory policies and ESG responses to Korean battery companies aiming to enter the European market, and to enhance business cooperation between Korean and EU companies.
The forum was attended by local companies and law firms, including BEPA (Batteries European Partnership Association) based in Brussels, the Battery Competence Cluster Netherlands, Battery Norway, the Polish Battery Association (PSPA), and the global law firm ReedSmith.

At the EU battery policy session featuring a speaker from ReedSmith, presentations and consultations were conducted on ▲the current status and plans for the EU Battery Act ▲the background and status of supply chain due diligence institutionalization ▲key contents and response measures for carbon footprint ▲opportunities and challenges related to the digital battery passport.
The Battery Association stated, "In discussions with the European battery associations, BEPA and battery industry associations and institutions from Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Poland participated to introduce trends and current status of the battery industry in the EU and major European countries." It added, "At the Korea-EU B2B business consultation, 66 domestic companies and 30 companies including BMW and CustomCells held one-on-one consultations."
Park Tae-sung, the Association’s full-time vice chairman, said, "Europe is the world's second-largest electric vehicle battery market," adding, "We hope to create a win-win success model by strengthening the Korea-EU battery alliance through this exhibition and expect EU battery industry organizations and companies to expand partnerships with Korean battery companies."
