A Thai Female Student Moves Netizens Worldwide 'Emotionally'
The image of a Thai older sister taking care of her younger sibling while studying moved netizens around the world to tears. This girl is only 10 years old this year, yet she is already acting as a practical mother and does not neglect her studies.
On the 20th (local time), Hong Kong media South China Morning Post (SCMP) focused on a video uploaded on the short-form video platform 'TikTok.' The video was filmed and posted by an elementary school teacher in Thailand on the 20th of last month, showing a female student attending class while taking care of her one-year-old younger sibling.
In the video, the female student is diligently taking notes with one hand while holding her younger sibling and feeding milk from a bottle with the other. Despite being busy taking care of her sibling, the girl does not miss a single word from the teacher and records everything carefully in her notebook.

The identity of this female student was revealed to be a girl from Prachinburi Province in central Thailand. The local Thai media 'The Tiger' reported that "her mother was busy working and could not take care of the younger sibling," so the girl had no choice but to bring the baby to school. The homeroom teacher who filmed the video encouraged the girl, saying, "Your mother is busy, so you brought your sibling to class. Well done," praising her.
The video quickly spread worldwide and reportedly garnered millions of views. Netizens praised her, saying, "A 10-year-old kid has much better multitasking skills than me," "The child is so mature for her age," "This older sister will be a great role model for her younger sibling in the future," "With such concentration and mental strength, she will achieve great things," "Well done," and "Even the mother will see this and gain strength."
SCMP added that such cases are common in many developing countries in Southeast Asia. Due to special family circumstances or poverty, young children often choose work over education.
In Malaysia, a 14-year-old boy named Wan dropped out of school to work as a sanitation worker to support his family. Singaporean media 'Must Share News' reported that Wan is responsible for his mother, one younger sister, and three younger brothers, effectively acting as the head of the household.
In December last year, in mainland China, a 10-year-old boy participated in his 6-year-old sister's sports day in place of their deceased father. Meanwhile, a photo of a 10-year-old girl feeding her 3-year-old younger brother by hand at a shelter after a strong earthquake in Gansu Province in northwest China touched the hearts of local netizens.
