Gumi City Targets Global Secondary Battery Market in Germany... Building Networks

Participation in 'InterBattery Europe 2024' to Attract Investment for Secondary Battery Companies

Promotion Hall Operation, Global Promotion of Various Incentives and Corporate Support Policies

Gumi City, North Gyeongsang Province, participated in "InterBattery Europe 2024," held in Munich, Germany, for three days from the 19th to the 21st.

This exhibition, co-hosted by the Korea Battery Industry Association, COEX, and KOTRA, was first held last year in response to the rapid growth of the European battery industry. This year, more than 70 companies and organizations from the entire secondary battery sector, including secondary batteries, capacitors, manufacturing equipment, and inspection and measurement devices, are participating. Over 8,000 related domestic and international investors and professionals are expected to attend this global expo.


Gumi City introduced its national industrial complex and promoted various incentives and business support policies to establish a global network for building a secondary battery ecosystem.


Investment consultations were held with domestic and international companies to promote the investment feasibility of Gumi City and the potential for the development of the secondary battery ecosystem. Joint booths were operated with local companies to lay the groundwork for Gumi-based businesses to enter the European market.


Um Gideuk, Director of Corporate Investment, said, "We will do our best to usher in a new era centered on Gumi by attracting a variety of domestic and international secondary battery companies and creating a global secondary battery ecosystem."

Gumi City is striving to create an innovative secondary battery ecosystem by investing a total project cost of 74.5 billion KRW in establishing a secondary battery development hub center, building a BaaS demonstration base, and supporting the advancement of high-tech roll infrastructure. Investments from companies possessing core secondary battery technologies, such as Orta Materials and ISU Specialty Chemical, are continuing.
