Actors Ryu Jun-yeol and Shin Hyun-bin Starring
Online video service (OTT) Netflix announced on the 20th that it will produce director Yeon Sang-ho's film "Gyesirok" (Apocalypse).
The film depicts the story of a pastor who believes that punishing the culprit of a missing person case is a divine revelation, and a detective in charge of missing person cases who is haunted by the ghost of his deceased younger brother, each following their own beliefs. Actor Ryu Jun-yeol plays Min-chan, a pastor who follows the divine revelation, and Shin Hyun-bin plays detective Yeon-hee, who chases Yang-rae, a suspect in the missing person case, and a suspicious pastor.
Netflix has teamed up again with director Yeon and writer Choi Kyu-seok for "Gyesirok," following "Hellbound" (2021). "Gyesirok" is based on the eponymous comic the two released in 2022. Director Yeon, who has reflected on the subtle boundaries between religion and humanity, faith and belief, good and evil in works like "The Fake" (2013) and "Hellbound," is determined to continue the expanded universe.
Master director Alfonso Cuar?n, who directed films such as "Gravity" (2013) and "Roma" (2018), is participating as an executive producer. Director Yeon said, "I was excited to be able to create 'Gyesirok' with Cuar?n, who made 'Children of Men' (2016) and 'Gravity,' which inspired me the most, and I look forward to the results of our collaboration."
