Hamyang County Holds Press Conference Marking 2nd Anniversary of the 8th Civil Administration

Sharing Achievements of the Past Two Years and Announcing Future Military Administration Directions

Jin Byungyoung, Governor of Hamyang County, Gyeongnam, stated at a press conference marking the second year of the 8th popularly elected administration, "In the second half of the 8th term, I will dynamically manage county affairs to deliver tangible changes that residents can truly feel."


At the press conference held on the 19th, Governor Jin Byungyoung explained the major achievements of the first half of the 8th term and his vision for the second half, saying, "We have put the current residents as our top priority and made every effort to revitalize the region by finding ways to increase both the resident and daily population."


Key achievements in the first half include: ▲Opening the province's first integrated care center providing one-stop support for infants, children, and youth ▲Supporting the Youth Dream Voucher program ▲Winning seven government urban regeneration project competitions ▲Completing the nation's first dormitory for foreign seasonal workers, among others.

Other major accomplishments highlighted include confirming the relocation and construction of the public library?a long-standing wish of residents, promoting the urban renewal project for downtown Hamyang-eup, achieving a 61% fulfillment rate of campaign promises, opening the province's first goat auction house, implementing rental agricultural machinery delivery services and fostering contract farming, the passage of the Dalbit Railway in the National Assembly, and launching projects to revitalize local commercial districts.


Governor Jin pledged that in the second half, he will focus on "people, tourism, and industry," diligently completing ongoing projects and ensuring their results contribute to the county's development and residents' happiness.


For the second half, the county plans to focus on improving the quality of life for all generations, with major initiatives including the full-scale construction of the Hamyang Nui Center to combat local depopulation, relocating the Hamyang Student Complex Library, building a Youth Complex Culture Center, and establishing cultural and welfare urban infrastructure in Hamyang-eup to enhance living conditions.


Additionally, the county will implement cultural tourism growth projects such as the "15 Great Mountains Full Ascent Certification Project" utilizing abundant forest resources, developing the Hamyang Four Seasons Poyu, creating a Seonbi Cultural Heritage Tourism Belt, and turning Baekhyeon Recreation Area into a tourism resource. Plans also include building an integrated food support center (Agricultural Products Distribution Center), fostering new (short-term) income crops, and establishing a youth start-up smart agriculture complex.


Furthermore, by accelerating the construction of the Dalbit Railway connecting Daegu and Gwangju and incorporating the fifth national railway network plan for the southern inland railway linking Daejeon, Hamyang, and Namhae, the county aims to become a logistics industry hub. It also plans to designate investment-leading zones by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and proactively develop sites such as the Singwan District to attract investment and usher in a new era for Hamyang as a logistics and investment hub.


Governor Jin stated, "If the first half was a period of laying the foundation to realize the aspirations of our residents, from this year onward, it is the beginning of making those dreams a reality," and emphasized, "The next two years will be a time for Hamyang to take a bold leap forward together with our residents."
