On the 18th (local time), Yu CEO attended the TM Forum event, a global telecommunications and technology consortium, held in Copenhagen, Denmark.

At the event, he introduced the "Global Telco AI Alliance" led by SKT. The Global Telco AI Alliance was launched last November and is a coalition of global telecom companies including SKT, Deutsche Telekom, e& (e&), Singtel, and SoftBank. They plan to jointly develop telco large language models (LLM) and collaborate on AI-related business ventures.

Yu CEO delivered the opening speech at a roundtable event attended by over 250 representatives from global telecommunications and tech companies. He presented the innovation and vision that AI collaboration among global telecom companies will bring to the telecommunications sector.

He said, "It is very meaningful to share the concrete business plans and vision of the joint venture created by the Global Telco AI Alliance at the TM Forum event, where global telecom and tech companies gather," adding, "This announcement will be an important milestone for AI innovation and growth."

He further stated, "As global companies are rapidly reorganizing their business strategies centered on AI, the efforts of the Global Telco AI Alliance to secure a leading position in the global AI ecosystem are bearing fruit."

He continued, "The common goal of the alliance is to jointly drive AI-based business innovation and ultimately provide AI innovation experiences to customers worldwide," and added, "Telecom companies want to collaborate on disruptive innovations beyond telecommunications, such as AI data centers and AI personal assistants."

Yu CEO emphasized, "The more we consolidate the technologies and capabilities of global telecom companies, the faster the pace of innovation will be," and said, "The Global Telco AI Alliance will accelerate the adoption of AI and business model innovation among telecom companies and open a new path of AI innovation that contributes to solving social issues, unlike anything seen before."

He concluded by saying, "For the development of the global AI ecosystem, companies need to cooperate to establish governance for safe AI, while simultaneously making balanced efforts to achieve sustainable AI innovation."

Following Yu CEO's speech, Jung Seok-geun, Head of the Global/AI Tech Business Division, took the stage to share the experience of developing telco LLMs with global telecom companies and explained various cases where these were first applied in the Korean telecommunications industry.

Additionally, executives from SKT, Deutsche Telekom, e&, Singtel, and others joined the stage to engage in a passionate panel discussion aimed at fostering the future vision and AI collaboration of the Global Telco AI Alliance.

Alongside Head Jung Seok-geun, Jan Hoffmann, Head of AI Technology Center at Deutsche Telekom; Harrison Leung, Chief Strategy Officer of the e& Group; and William Woo, Chief Information Officer of Singtel, participated in the discussion on various innovative approaches telecom companies can pursue through AI.

Notably, Eric Davis, in charge of AI Tech Collaboration at SKT, demonstrated a telco-specialized LLM where SKT’s telco LLM analyzes conversations between customer service agents and customers at a telecom call center, summarizes the content, and organizes follow-up tasks for the agents. This showcased a successful model of telco LLM assisting with tasks that are difficult for agents to handle quickly.

On the following day, the 19th (local time), key executives from the five alliance member companies gathered to sign the main contract for establishing the joint venture of the Global Telco AI Alliance. The five companies agreed to actively cooperate by finalizing the joint venture establishment and detailed business plans.

The joint venture plans to focus on ▲ joint development and commercialization of telco LLMs ▲ multilingual language learning and performance enhancement of LLMs ▲ AI personalized services, among other business initiatives.

Yu CEO stated, "We will continue to be a game changer leading the global AI market together with domestic and international AI players," and added, "Through continuous bold challenges with the Global Telco AI Alliance, we will transform into a true global AI company."
