Preventing Water Pollution Accidents through Special Inspections during the Monsoon Season
On the 20th, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul announced that it will conduct special crackdowns on environmental pollution activities until the end of August this year to prevent environmental pollution caused by illegal activities such as unauthorized wastewater discharge during heavy summer rains.
The main targets of the crackdown are wastewater discharge facilities within the district, and the inspection items include ▲whether unauthorized (unreported) discharge facilities are installed and operated ▲whether wastewater is discharged without permission ▲whether discharge facilities are operated abnormally ▲compliance with wastewater discharge standards ▲and whether damaged, broken, or deteriorated prevention facilities caused by heavy rain are left unattended.
Until the end of this month, the special crackdown plan will be promoted in advance, and cooperation letters for self-inspection will be sent to businesses to encourage voluntary inspections by operators and raise awareness.
A district official stated, “Through this special summer crackdown, we will do our best to prevent accidents in which water pollutants flow into public water bodies and to create a clean and safe water quality environment.”
