On the 17th and 18th at the District Office 10th Floor Book Cafe... Policy Proposal Discussions by Experts in Various Fields
Will Serve as a Foundation for Yongsan-gu's Sustainable Development
Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) held a meeting with the district policy advisory committee, composed of experts from various fields, on the 17th and 18th at the 10th floor book cafe of the district office.
At this policy meeting, the advisory committee members received a report from the district mayor on the achievements of the first half of the 8th elected term's district administration and continued discussions to lead positive changes in the district.
The theme of the meeting was "Urban Development and Resident Welfare." Detailed topics included education, culture and tourism, future industries, youth policies, urban development, resident welfare, safe city initiatives, and urban environment.
The committee members presented various proposals by citing overseas cases with environments similar to Yongsan, including ▲exploring future industries such as advanced technology industries ▲establishing traffic measures in response to large-scale developments like the international business district and electronics market ▲youth support policies ▲customized mental health projects covering life cycles ▲developing cultural tourism resource infrastructure to become a K-Culture hub ▲expanding living infrastructure such as sports facilities satisfying both youth and middle-aged residents.
The district plans to convey the opinions gathered from this policy meeting to relevant departments and utilize them in future district administration.
In November last year, the district established the "Yongsan-gu Policy Advisory Committee" to strengthen expertise on the district's vision and core policies. The committee consists of 39 members divided into three subcommittees to realize practical policies.
The members have held a total of three meetings so far and continue active engagement. In particular, they participate as members in various projects, suggesting mid- to long-term development directions for the district.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, concluded the meeting by saying, "The four-year term is the period set by the residents whom I must serve as mayor, so projects requiring speed will be pursued boldly and swiftly. At the same time, rather than focusing only on projects that will materialize within the term, we will also work with a long-term perspective to prepare for the future and strengthen the foundation."
