"Dobong-gu Office Building Resort?"...The Secret Behind Dobong-gu Office Building Becoming the 'No.1 Summer Retreat'? Dobong-gu Office Building 1st Floor Heat Relief Shelter Plan

Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) is attracting attention this year by newly transforming the district office building into a summer retreat.

Last year, it made headlines by creating Seoul's first themed heatwave shelter at the district office that anyone can use.

The district announced that from June 24, it will operate the first and second floors of the district office as heatwave shelters for three months. The facility will be open to residents every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

This year, the space has been designed as a relaxation area with a resort concept. On the first floor, parasols, tables, and other items that evoke a beach atmosphere have been placed throughout to create the feeling of being at a vacation spot.

A district official said, “We broke the fixed notion of heatwave shelters operated by government offices,” adding, “The second floor is also diversely arranged so that users can enjoy it according to their preferences. Visitors will be able to experience a unique kind of fun.”

The second floor transformed the existing seminar rooms into themed spaces by room. These include a healing room equipped with massage chairs and air purifiers, a playroom filled with playground equipment for children, and a video room where visitors can watch TV.

Since a large number of visitors are expected, permanent staff will be assigned. The staff will handle various tasks ranging from guiding visitors at the heatwave shelter to ensuring safety management.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “With the creation of this heatwave shelter, we expect residents to enjoy a summer vacation right in front of their homes without having to go out of town. We hope everyone spends a fun and exciting summer here beyond just simple relaxation.”
