March 19: HCN-Gwanak Ppuri Foundation-Gwanak District Community Security Council Sign MOU
Supporting the Shrinking Local Economy, Farms, and Food Care for Vulnerable Groups!
On the Same Day, ‘Gwanak District-HCN’ Also Sign MOU to Create a Safe Gwanak
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the 19th with HCN, the Gwanak Root Foundation, and the Gwanak-gu Community Security Council for the ‘Chondele Bapsang’ project to promote urban-rural cooperation and provide food care for vulnerable groups.
‘Chondele Bapsang’ is a coined term combining ‘tsundere,’ which refers to someone who appears cold on the outside but warm-hearted inside, and ‘chon (村),’ meaning our local area or village, symbolizing a somewhat rustic but heartfelt meal package.
This agreement supports food care twice a month for 45 low-income vulnerable households, including single-parent families and people with disabilities in the district, using packages composed of seasonal vegetables, eggs, and processed products produced by small-scale women farmers in the Sangju area. This creates a virtuous cycle where small-scale farmers secure stable sales channels, and vulnerable groups receive balanced meals, which is highly meaningful.
Furthermore, agreeing with the purpose of the project, the district linked funds raised through the Seoul Community Chest of Korea’s Warm Winter Campaign to the Gwanak-gu Community Security Council, increasing support by 15 households in addition to the originally planned 30 households, furthering the initiative’s impact.
To this end, ▲ the district will identify and recommend target households ▲ HCN will handle project planning and budget support ▲ the Gwanak Root Foundation will manage communication with agricultural producers and monitor deliveries ▲ the Gwanak-gu Community Security Council will operate distribution projects and monitor vulnerable groups, collaborating closely.
HCN CEO Won Heung-jae said, “After continuously considering what the most HCN-like social contribution activity is and how to provide real help to local residents while promoting regional coexistence, we launched ‘Chondele Bapsang.’ We will continue to strive to find and develop meaningful work we can do for the community.”
On the same day, HCN also signed an agreement to create a safe Gwanak by producing and broadcasting a promotional campaign for customized local safety measures according to season and timing to raise public awareness about safety.
Mayor Park Jun-hee expressed gratitude, saying, “I thank HCN, which plans and supports food care and safety for vulnerable groups, as well as the Gwanak Root Foundation and the Gwanak-gu Community Security Council for their cooperation. We will continue to do our best so that public-private cooperation leads to regional coexistence and a happy, safe Gwanak-gu for all.”
