Seoul Metropolitan Council Democratic Party's Second Half Vice Chairman Candidate Assemblyman Kim In-je Elected

Confirmed Wonnae Representative Seong Heumje Member

The Democratic Party of Korea in the Seoul Metropolitan Council (Election Management Committee Chairperson Assemblyman Kim Ki-deok, Mapo 4) held a members' general meeting on the afternoon of the 19th and confirmed the candidates for vice-chairperson and the representative assemblyman who will lead the second half of the 11th Seoul Metropolitan Council.

Candidate for Vice Chairman Kim In-je

The Democratic Party's candidate for vice-chairperson is Assemblyman Kim In-je (Guro 2), who proposed key pledges such as "realizing a council where common sense and principles prevail, centered on values and policies." Assemblyman Kim's strengths lie in his political acumen and drive demonstrated through three terms in office. In particular, he has been praised for setting the direction of the Democratic Party with a balanced perspective and horizontal leadership on major issues, serving as a role model for party members.

Assemblyman Kim In-je entered the 9th Seoul Metropolitan Council and served as the floor leader. In the 10th Seoul Metropolitan Council, he served as the chairperson of the Urban Planning Committee in the first half. His election will be finalized through a vote by all members at the plenary session scheduled for June 25.

The newly elected representative assemblyman to lead the Democratic Party in the second half is Assemblyman Seong Heum-je (Eunpyeong 1), who emphasized "retaking Seoul for the Democratic Party with strong driving force" and promised to expand the policy functions of the representative office and provide full support for legislative activities. He is a former chairperson of the Eunpyeong District Council and has experience as a professional member of the Presidential Committee on Balanced National Development. A two-term assemblyman, he served as chairperson of the Urban Safety and Construction Committee in the 10th Seoul Metropolitan Council.

Seong Heumje, Floor Leader

"Protecting democracy and realizing a people-centered council" is a shared pledge of the vice-chairperson candidate and the floor leader. The new leadership of the Democratic Party agreed to put a brake on the ruling People Power Party's unilateral actions that go against democracy and to carry out legislative activities focused on the people's livelihood.

Kim Ki-deok, chairperson of the Election Management Committee who oversaw this election, urged the new leadership to "enhance the status of the one-team Democratic Party through active communication and mutual respect, and lead so that it can firmly establish itself as a reliable partner for the livelihood of Seoul citizens."

He also stated, "This Election Management Committee applied stricter regulations than ever, such as banning personal mobile phones inside the voting booths," and expressed gratitude to all candidates for practicing a clean and fair election through healthy competition.
