First Solo Exhibition... Theme: 'A Humanistic Story of Memories Embracing Sound'
On the afternoon of the 19th, an emotional portrait-themed exhibition by painter Lee Geonhwa was held at 'Gallery Chungjang22,' a cultural and artistic space located in Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
This themed exhibition is Lee's first solo exhibition under the theme "A Human Story of Memories Embracing Sound," running until the 3rd of next month. A total of 23 paintings capturing the faces of acquaintances around him were displayed. Visitors can enjoy various works, including portraits of "ajusshi models" active in the senior fashion content startup 'The New Gray.'
The works emotionally and calmly depict individuals' personal stories, adding a sense of life’s reality. While the realistic depiction naturally stands out, the emotional feeling and lyricism conveyed through watercolor techniques evoke a sweet aesthetic.
Yoon Byunghak, head of the Chungjang22 Cultural Project Group, commented, "The beauty appearing in the watercolor portraits, the depth revealed within the contemplative aesthetics, and the true colors of the faces seem to perfectly show the bonds of connection and emotional sentiment." He added, "I greatly expect that the protagonists in the paintings will also share the joy of satisfaction."

As a special event, a performance by the band group 'White Wing' was held. This group was formed by the painter during his school days in the 1970s. Reuniting with former members, they reminisced about memories and showcased the sensibility of an art student who loved music. Following this, Jang's Band gave a congratulatory performance, drawing enthusiastic responses from the audience.
Meanwhile, painter Lee majored in Western painting at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Chonnam National University, and has been active with various works including the Nambu Contemporary Art Festival, International Contemporary Art Gwangju Art Vision, Harmony and Communication and Future Exhibition, and International Contemporary Art Special Exhibition.
