City and AI Convergence Project Group Hold Performance Exchange Meeting
Strengthening AI Demonstration City Status and Expecting Regional Economic Revitalization
Gwangju, known as an ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) Demonstration City,’ is expanding opportunities for citizens to directly experience AI technology through the demonstration of various AI products and services.
Gwangju Metropolitan City and the AI Industry Convergence Project Group announced on the 19th that they held an ‘AI Industry Cooperation Company Performance Exchange Meeting’ on the 18th at the AI Startup Camp in Geumnam-ro, Dong-gu.
This meeting was organized for AI companies participating in the ‘Urban Problem-Solving AI Solution Development Support Project’ and the ‘Citizen and Local Company-Centered AI Voucher Support Project,’ both funded by Gwangju City’s budget, to share their achievements and discuss cooperation plans.
At the event, various AI products and service demonstration achievements from Gwangju AI companies were presented, including Ecopiece’s ‘AI-based Autonomous Water Quality Management Robot for Lake Surfaces,’ InnoDitech’s ‘AI Tooth Alignment Optimization and Orthodontic Device,’ and Eunseong Trasis’s ‘AI Bus Information System.’
Ecopiece participated in the ‘Urban Problem-Solving AI Solution Development Support Project’ and built a three-dimensional water quality monitoring map of urban lakes in Gwangju using an AI-based water quality management robot.
Through this, they diagnosed water pollution in lake parks and demonstrated data-driven customized purification solutions, resulting in increased sales and job creation. Based on these achievements, Ecopiece received international recognition by winning the Gold Award at the 2024 Edison Awards, the world’s most prestigious invention award, and the CES Innovation Award.
InnoDitech took part in the ‘Citizen and Local Company-Centered AI Voucher Support Project’ and developed an AI-based personal orthodontic device for tooth alignment optimization, contributing to the improvement of dental health for Gwangju citizens.
This device offers superior aesthetics and convenience compared to traditional wire devices, addresses the shortcomings of imported devices, reduces cost burdens, and enables high-quality orthodontic treatment. InnoDitech successfully expanded clinical applications through collaboration with dental professionals.
Eunseong Trasis participated in the ‘Urban Problem-Solving AI Solution Development Support Project’ and demonstrated an AI bus information system that provides real-time bus location information. This system includes AI bus dispatch functions, route information change notification systems, AI biometric-based automatic fare payment, and passenger boarding and alighting confirmation features, enhancing the convenience of city bus use and increasing transportation share.
Through this meeting, it is expected that sharing the demonstration achievements of AI companies and fostering cooperation among companies will serve as an opportunity to revitalize the local economy by exploring ways to develop Gwangju’s AI industry.
Kwack Jae-do, Acting Director of the AI Industry Convergence Project Group, said, “We were able to directly observe how AI-based technology contributes to solving urban problems and improving citizens’ quality of life,” adding, “We will continue to provide unwavering support so that more companies can develop and apply innovative solutions through AI technology.”
