Adoption of the 'Proposal for the Launch and Support Promotion of the Chungcheong Region Special Local Government'

The Daejeon City Council held the 3rd plenary session of the 278th regular meeting on the 19th, processing 34 agenda items and concluding the 17-day session schedule.

During the plenary session, 18 ordinances including the "Ordinance on the Complete Revision of the Daejeon City Administrative Organization and Staffing" were approved. Additionally, 7 consent items such as the "Consent for the 5th Amendment to the 2024 Shared Property Management Plan (Creation of Daejeon Second Arboretum)" and 6 settlement items including the "Approval of the 2023 Fiscal Year Daejeon City Settlement" were processed.

Furthermore, through the "Resolution to Launch and Support the Chungcheong Region Special Local Government," which was proposed by Representative Song Hwal-seop, the council urged the government to establish the Chungcheong Region Mega City within the year and to support its launch so that the Chungcheong region can lead the nation's balanced development based on this.

In addition, it was decided to extend the activity period of the currently organized and operating "Special Committee for the Promotion of Social Participation of Persons with Disabilities" until June 30, 2026, to promote welfare for persons with disabilities.

In the subsequent 5-minute free speeches, △ Representative Song Dae-yoon spoke on "Strengthening Support for Families of Persons with Developmental Disabilities," △ Representative Lee Geum-seon urged the "Establishment of New Bus Routes in the Bukdaejeon Area," △ Representative Kim Young-sam emphasized the "Need to Correct Unexecuted Grants," △ Representative Jeong Myeong-guk called for the "Preparation of Strategic and Integrated Foreign Policy," and △ Representative Kim Min-sook addressed the "Problems in the Process of Daejeon City Organizational Restructuring."

Chairman Lee Sang-rae stated, "The Daejeon City Council was able to successfully conclude the first half of the term with the passionate interest and encouragement of the citizens," and added, "To repay the trust of the citizens, we will continue to carry out effective legislative activities in the second half to improve the quality of life of the citizens."
