Battery Industry Association, COEX, and KOTRA Jointly Host
"Showcasing Products to Lead the Global ESS Market"
LG Energy Solution will participate in 'InterBattery Europe 2024,' held from the 19th to the 21st in Munich, Germany. InterBattery Europe is a battery event jointly hosted by the Korea Battery Industry Association, COEX, and KOTRA. This is the second time the event is being held, following last year.
On the 19th, LG Energy Solution announced that this year, under the theme 'Beyond Batteries,' it will showcase a diverse portfolio of energy storage system (ESS) products.

Through this event, LG Energy Solution will target the global ESS market, including Europe, by exhibiting its first residential ESS product, enblock E, which applies LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) cells, and unveiling a new power grid ESS product based on LFP long cells for the first time.
The enblock E is modular, allowing easy insertion of packs to adjust capacity. It can accommodate up to five packs, expanding capacity up to 15.5kWh. It can be installed both indoors and outdoors, is pre-assembled for transport, and can be installed within 15 minutes. A sample of the JF1 pack, which is equipped in the enblock E, will also be displayed. The JF1 is compatible with residential, commercial, and power applications, meeting diverse customer demands while offering cost competitiveness. It features advanced process technology to achieve high energy density.
Medium-to-large ESS products for power grids, installed in power plants and transmission and distribution networks, will also be introduced. LG Energy Solution will unveil for the first time its new product, 'New Modularized Solutions,' which utilizes the high-capacity LFP long cell 'JF2 cell.' Long cells refer to cells with a long and thin structure, enhancing space efficiency within battery packs or modules and facilitating cooling and management.
The modular container-type 'New Modularized Solutions' can be configured to suit various capacities according to usage. Delivered to customers as fully assembled units, it significantly improves convenience. Fire prevention solutions are also applied to enhance product safety.
UPS battery solutions, which provide emergency power to critical facilities such as data centers, IT departments, and communication facilities, will also be showcased. While UPS batteries have traditionally used lead-acid batteries, LG Energy Solution's UPS batteries use lithium-ion batteries, offering higher energy efficiency and longer lifespan.
LG Energy Solution explained, "Europe has a high proportion of renewable energy generation and advanced environmental regulations, making it a market with significant potential ESS demand. Through InterBattery Europe, we will present core strategies and product portfolios to lead the European and global ESS markets." Energy market research firm BloombergNEF (BNEF) forecasts that the European ESS market size will grow approximately sixfold from 13.7GWh last year to 76.6GWh by 2030.
