Suwon City Tap Water 'Safe'... Meets 59 Criteria Suwon City Tap Water Test Results

Tap water in Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province, has been confirmed to be safe.


The Suwon City Waterworks Office announced on the 19th that the water quality of the purified water at Suwon City's water purification plant was tested last year and all 59 items of the drinking water quality standards were deemed 'suitable.'


On the same day, the Suwon City Waterworks Office produced and released the "2024 Suwon City Tap Water Quality Report," which includes standards for raw and purified water quality, water quality test results, the production and supply process of tap water, and common knowledge related to tap water, to the citizens.


The Suwon City Waterworks Office explained in the report that among the 59 items of drinking water quality standards, 33 items were not detected, and the remaining 26 items were all within the water quality standards and received a suitable rating.


The Suwon City Waterworks Office inspects 38 items specified in the "Water Source Management Regulations" for raw water, including pH (hydrogen ion concentration), total organic carbon (TOC), suspended solids mass, dissolved oxygen amount, and total coliform bacteria. For purified water, 59 items are inspected, including ▲microorganisms (3 items) ▲health-hazardous inorganic substances (12 items) ▲health-hazardous organic substances (17 items) ▲disinfectants and disinfection by-products (11 items) ▲aesthetic impact substances (16 items).


The Suwon City Waterworks Office installs automatic water quality measuring devices to monitor water quality in real time and announces the water quality test results monthly on the Suwon City Waterworks Office website (water.suwon.go.kr), Suwon City homepage (www.suwon.go.kr), the back of water bills, and bulletin boards at community service centers.


A representative of the Suwon City Waterworks Office stated, "The '2024 Tap Water Quality Report' can be viewed as an e-book on the Suwon City Waterworks Office and Suwon City websites," adding, "We will do our best to improve quality so that citizens can use tap water with peace of mind."
