Decision to Change Substation Site Land to Residential and Neighborhood Living Facility Land for Efficient Land Use
The land designated for a substation within Susaek 6 District has been rezoned to allow for residential and neighborhood living facilities.
On the 19th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it held the 5th Urban Redevelopment Committee meeting and approved a revision to the redevelopment promotion plan for the Susaek 6 Redevelopment Promotion District around 115-5 Susaek-dong, Eunpyeong-gu.
Susaek 6 District is located in the center of Susaek-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, and a 1,223-unit apartment complex (DMC Fine City Xi) was completed there at the end of July last year. The complex includes apartments and auxiliary welfare facilities, with parks and plazas developed around the site.
At this committee meeting, the lot previously designated for a substation within this district was reviewed and changed to residential and neighborhood living facility land.
The substation land in Susaek 6 District is adjacent to the underground Susaek substation, and there had been discussions about Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) purchasing the site, but this plan was abandoned. The land is expected to be sold to the private sector.
A Seoul city official stated, "The substation land was originally a lot with residential buildings, and since KEPCO has expressed no intention to purchase it, it is expected that neighborhood living facilities will be developed if it is sold."
