Gangneung Animal Shelter Found
"Seems Abandoned Behind the Rest Area"
A retriever was found abandoned at the Daegwallyeong Rest Area in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, sparking outrage among netizens. The retriever was in a terrible condition when discovered.
On the 18th, 'Miso Sarang,' an animal protection shelter in Gangneung, announced that they recently found an abandoned dog behind the parking lot of the Daegwallyeong Rest Area on the upward route. The dog they found was a retriever, and it was said to be in a life-threatening condition.
In the video released by the organization, the retriever is lying on its side behind a parked vehicle. The retriever is panting, and dozens of maggots are wriggling as they burrow into its hips and back.
Miso Sarang stated, "It is presumed to have been abandoned behind the rest area," adding, "The dog was barely breathing while infested with maggots. We ask for support so that the dog can receive treatment and survive."
The organization further explained that the retriever is currently suffering from pyometra, heartworm infection, renal failure, anemia, dehydration, and inflammation.
Netizens who saw the video responded with comments such as "I hope the owner receives divine punishment," "How could someone neglect a dog until it reached this state," "My heart hurts," and "Please make a full recovery."
