Inviting National Meritorious Persons and Encouraging Unsung Uniformed Workers

On the 18th, the Changwon Coast Guard in Gyeongnam held an event to honor 'heroes' who have dedicated themselves to the nation.

In anticipation of Patriots and Veterans Month and the 74th anniversary of the Korean War, they invited national meritorious persons and their families to express gratitude for their service.

The 18 heroes included veterans of the Korean War and the Vietnam War, as well as descendants of independence activists. A total of 31 people attended the event, including these 18 heroes and the head of the Gyeongnam Eastern Veterans Affairs Office.

On this day, the Changwon Coast Guard paid sincere tribute to the veterans and their families who led the way in defending the nation.

The heroes, wearing pink carnations pinned by their juniors, saluted in front of the Taegeukgi and took photos wishing for good health.

They shared stories over hearty chicken soup, reminiscing about the time they devoted themselves to the country.

They toured Jinhaeman, protected by the Coast Guard and Navy, aboard the Changwon Coast Guard's Criminal Mobile Patrol Boat, and also inspected the jurisdictional security area managed by the Changwon Coast Guard.

They encouraged the unsung uniformed personnel who quietly serve on the Criminal Mobile Patrol Boat and the Pollution Control Vessel, and enjoyed refreshments prepared by the Changwon Coast Guard Policy Advisory Committee.

Park Hyungin said, "Being invited as a national meritorious person during Patriots and Veterans Month is very meaningful to me. Seeing the reliable Coast Guard protecting our seas brought back proud memories of my service to the country."

An official from the Changwon Coast Guard said, "We hope this event was not just a typical veterans' ceremony where national heroes simply watch, but a time to communicate with their juniors, reminisce about past glories, and pass on their spirit. We plan to continue expanding events that honor and remember our national heroes."

We express our gratitude to those who have devoted their bodies and minds to the country and to the unsung uniformed personnel who quietly serve in unseen places."

He added, "We at the Changwon Coast Guard will keep the spirit of our national heroes in our hearts and do our utmost to protect the lives of our people and our nation."
