Social Contribution Through Education and Performances
Dongseo University and Gijang-gun signed a 'Business Agreement for Win-Win Cooperation to Revitalize the Operation of the Baseball Theme Park' at the Global Room of the New Millennium Hall on the 18th.
Through this agreement, Dongseo University and Dong-A University propose a profit-generating commercialization model in the profit-oriented integrated industrial complex pursued by the glocal project.
The Baseball Theme Park is a key project of Gijang-gun, aiming to create the largest baseball theme cluster in Korea.
At Ilgwang Amusement Park, four official baseball fields, one little league baseball field, and one softball field have been established, serving as venues for various baseball games and training camps for professional players, students, and amateur teams.
Gijang-gun and Dongseo University have agreed to actively cooperate on: ▲ planning and developing Gijang-gun's cultural tourism content and business models based on government-academia innovation, ▲ proposing various government and local government public projects, ▲ promoting various community contribution activities, and ▲ exchanging human and material resources between the local government and the university.
In the future, the site will be utilized as a field campus where students can receive hands-on education, in connection with the glocal university project and the Regional Innovation-led University Support System (RISE) project.
Dongseo University is carrying out various collaborative sharing activities focused on cultural content in cooperation with Gijang-gun. In particular, with support from the local community win-win cooperation support project hosted by Busan Technopark, the 'Evergreen Project' has been operated from 2021 to 2024.
The Evergreen Project aims to strengthen the role of Gijang residents as producers rather than consumers by providing opportunities for various cultural, artistic, and hobby activities. In addition, it supports the revitalization of tourism in the Gijang area by planning local-specialized performances themed around the Eight Scenic Views of Gijang.
Jang Jeguk, President of Dongseo University, said, "Through this agreement, we plan to jointly develop a profit-generating cooperation model between the local government and the university with Gijang-gun and link it to various government and local government public projects. Through government-academia cooperation, we plan to promote education, performances, and community contribution activities to revitalize the Gijang-gun Baseball Theme Park facilities through the efficient management and operation of human and material resources."
