Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, promised to create a disposable-free Korea, announcing that 'Disposable-Free Gyeonggi Special Zones' will be established in four areas including Bucheon.

On the 18th, Governor Kim posted on his social media, "The 'Disposable Zero Zones' are expanding," introducing that "‘Disposable-Free Gyeonggi Special Zones’ will be created in four cities and counties: Bucheon, Ansan, Gwangmyeong, and Yangpyeong."

He continued, "Since last year, not only employees but all visitors at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office have stopped using disposable cups," adding, "Starting from January this year, only reusable containers have been used for delivery food, and contrary to concerns, this has been adopted very quickly."

In particular, he said, "This meaningful practice is expanding to four cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province," adding, "The disposable ‘zero’ campaign will begin in Bucheon’s university district, the food alleys of Ansan and Gwangmyeong, and the tourist area of Yangpyeong. A total of 723 businesses have willingly participated."

Governor Kim also stated, "Gyeonggi Province will support the special zones by providing reusable cups, establishing rental and return facilities for reusable containers, and installing washing machines," expressing his expectation, "If the active participation of 14 million Gyeonggi residents is added, I am confident that a ‘Disposable Zero Korea’ beyond Gyeonggi Province will not be far off."
