Gurye-gun Receives Energy Efficiency Eco-Friendly Award

Declaration of 2050 Carbon Zero Gurye Vision, etc.

Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 18th that it received the Minister of Environment Award at the 10th Energy Efficiency and Eco-friendly Awards hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Environment, and organized by Energy Economy Newspaper.

Gurye-gun was the first local government to declare the 2050 Carbon Zero Clean Gurye vision in response to climate change and is actively implementing future-oriented renewable energy distribution.

In April 2023, the county held the nation’s first Carbon Neutral Soil Revitalization Declaration Ceremony and hosted the National Assembly forum titled “The Country Lives When the Soil Lives” in June, and in November, it established a mid- to long-term development plan for carbon-neutral soil revitalization.

Additionally, from 2021 to 2023, the county promoted a renewable energy distribution convergence support project, investing 9.6 billion KRW to install renewable energy facilities in about 1,300 locations.

This year, renewable energy facilities will be installed in 442 locations, and next year in 400 locations.

Gurye-gun operates a carbon point system to practice carbon neutrality, reducing 202.826tCO2eq of greenhouse gases annually, and is striving to provide residents with a pleasant living environment by creating fine dust blocking forests in Bongseo-ri, Gurye-eup, and Naengcheon-ri, Masan-myeon to prevent the spread of fine dust.
