Battery Industry Association & Chamobility Association Hosted
8 Key Services Including Electric Vehicle Battery Subscription
"Will Be a Breakthrough for the Electric Vehicle Chasm"
The Korea Battery Industry Association and the Korea Automobile Mobility Association jointly held a 'Business Forum for Fostering the Electric Vehicle Battery Service Industry' on the 18th.
The forum took place that afternoon in the medium conference room of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This event was organized for companies to directly promote promising business models related to electric vehicle battery services covering the entire battery lifecycle.
In particular, by introducing service models such as battery performance diagnostics, battery subscription and replacement, and mobile charging services that can resolve major factors causing consumers to hesitate in purchasing electric vehicles?such as charging infrastructure and EV safety?it is expected that related services will play a key role in overcoming the electric vehicle chasm.
On this day, companies related to battery services, including LG Energy Solution, Hyundai Glovis, PM Grow, Mintech, and TVU, gave presentations.
LG Energy Solution provides a personalized management guide that enables residual value management of electric vehicles through its 'B-Lifecare' service, a continuous monitoring service for electric vehicles. KooRoo, an in-house venture, is enhancing customer convenience for electric two-wheelers based on the Battery Sharing Station (BSS).
Hyundai Glovis offers integrated management services such as transportation and storage of used batteries. Based on its SCM (Supply Chain Management) capabilities, it provides integrated management services for used battery volumes generated from electric vehicle batteries and batteries that have reached the end of their life in reuse, including collection, diagnosis, storage, recycling, and reuse.
PM Grow issues greenhouse gas reduction credits to companies transitioning to electric vehicles. Through a credit issuance project targeting transportation businesses that have converted internal combustion engine vehicles to electric vehicles, the revenue from sold credits is shared with customers to encourage EV transition and carbon reduction. Mintech provides real-time electric vehicle battery management and battery safety inspection services.
The electric vehicle battery service market is expected to continue growing alongside electric vehicles and batteries. According to SNE Research, by 2030, global electric vehicle demand will reach 59.01 million units, and the volume of used batteries generated will reach 338 GWh.
Choi Jong-seo, General Director of the Korea Battery Industry Association, stated, "The electric vehicle battery service industry is expected to be a starting point for overcoming the electric vehicle chasm," and emphasized, "To revitalize the battery service industry, it is urgent to promptly legislate the integrated management system for used batteries proposed by the industry to the government last year, along with securing a budget for building a traceability management system."
