This inspection was carried out to verify whether the heatwave management plans and prevention guidelines were properly implemented at each site, in accordance with the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s special response guidelines for heatwave and heavy rain safety management.

Hanwha Construction Division has designated the period from June 1 to September 15 as the “Special Heatwave Management Period” and is focusing on protecting workers’ health and preventing heat-related illnesses.

Seungmo Kim, CEO of Hanwha Construction Division, visited the Osiria Meditown construction site in Busan on the 13th to conduct a safety inspection. Other executives of Hanwha Construction Division, including Yunhae Kim, Head of Safety and Environmental Management (CSO), also visited major construction sites until the 17th to intensively check the status of heatwave and heavy rain preparedness.

During the site safety inspections, special attention was given to the preparation of the three key rules?water, shade, and rest?to prevent heat-related illnesses among construction workers during the hot season.

They checked whether clean water and saline solution were provided throughout the sites and appointed ice machine managers to thoroughly maintain hygiene. The readiness of rest facilities, shade shelters, and cooling equipment was confirmed, and workers were instructed to ensure there were no inconveniences in their use.

The rest system assigned according to the heatwave stages was strictly enforced, and working hours for vulnerable workers such as the elderly were adjusted. Additionally, safety activities conducted at each site, such as Ice Cream Day, provision of ion drinks, and distribution of personal protective equipment for the hot season (cool scarves, cool arm sleeves, etc.), were actively encouraged.

To prevent damage to facilities, collapses, and electric shock accidents caused by heavy rains during the monsoon season, pre-inspections and maintenance activities such as drainage maintenance, excavation slope reinforcement, restricted access to dangerous areas, and electrical safety checks were carried out.

Seungmo Kim, CEO of Hanwha Construction Division, stated, “This summer’s heatwave and heavy rains are expected to be more severe than in previous years, so we will make every effort to prevent safety accidents,” and urged, “Please systematically manage the application of the three key rules?water, shade, and rest?at all sites without exception, following the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s guidelines.”
