On the 18th, Samsung Electronics announced that in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), it will support the live broadcast of the 2024 Paris Olympic opening ceremony on the 26th of next month and the sailing events starting on the 28th of next month using the 'Galaxy S24 Ultra'.

As the official Olympic partner, Samsung Electronics is conducting a new Olympic broadcast collaboration using mobile technology in line with this edition's slogan, "A Fully Open Games".

The opening ceremony will be held outside the Olympic main stadium for the first time in Olympic history. The athletes' parade will take place on the Seine River located in the center of Paris. Boats carrying athletes from various countries will parade approximately 6 km along the Seine.

The parade will involve about 10,000 athletes and 85 boats. The Galaxy S24 Ultra will be installed on the boats of each country's delegation to capture footage of the athletes. More than 200 devices will be used to support the broadcast, and the recorded footage will be streamed live worldwide through OBS.

From the 28th of next month, during the sailing competitions, Galaxy S24 Ultra devices will also be installed on the athletes' yachts to broadcast their activities. The recorded footage will be transmitted in real time via base station boats installed on the sea.

This technological collaboration is carried out together with Orange, the official local telecommunications partner of the Paris Olympics. To enable wireless communication in the outdoor environment, 12 dedicated 5G base stations will be installed around the Seine River.

Samsung Electronics optimized the software to ensure stable high-definition video capture and network transmission, considering the events will take place on rivers and seas during the hot summer.

Choi Seung-eun, Vice President and Head of Marketing Team at Samsung Electronics MX Division, said, "Samsung has contributed to connecting the Olympics and the world as an official partner for nearly 40 years through mobile technology. We will provide technological innovations so that fans worldwide can enjoy and communicate the Olympics more closely through Galaxy."

Janis Exarchos, CEO of OBS, stated, "We hope Olympic fans around the world can feel the vividness of the Games in real time alongside the athletes through Samsung Electronics' cutting-edge mobile innovations and be inspired by the athletes."
