DRX Merges with eDreamwork Korea... Yang Sun-il and Park Jung-moo Appointed as Co-CEOs

eSports company DRX announced on the 17th that it has merged with its subsidiary iDreamWork Korea, which has been managing the Valorant team, and appointed Yang Seon-il and Park Jung-moo as the new co-CEOs.

DRX is a comprehensive eSports pro gaming team operating teams in five categories including League of Legends (LoL), Valorant, fighting games (Tekken, Street Fighter), Warcraft 3, and PUBG Mobile. In 2022, the LoL team won the World Championship (Worlds), and the team includes Korea’s first-generation professional Valorant team and Tekken legend pro gamer Bae Jae-min, known as ‘MooRup’.

Until now, DRX managed the LoL team, while iDreamWork Korea operated teams in Valorant, Tekken, Street Fighter, Warcraft 3, and PUBG Mobile. DRX explained, “With the simultaneous appointment of new co-CEOs, we plan to create strong synergy through strengthening the global fandom and diversifying our business.”

The new co-CEOs, both former first-generation professional Counter-Strike players, demonstrated their expertise by managing various game teams including Valorant, Tekken, Street Fighter, Warcraft 3, and PUBG Mobile while serving as CEO of iDreamWork Korea. CEO Yang said, “Please look forward to a new DRX that will captivate fans’ hearts through outstanding performance and activities across various categories.”

New CEO Park is the head of ATU Partners, a private equity fund management firm that acquired DRX in 2019 by creating Asia’s first eSports fund. He has served as chairman of DRX and led the board of directors. He stated, “I will focus on strengthening global networking and ensuring the successful integration of the two companies after the merger so that DRX can make its second leap forward.”

Meanwhile, DRX will participate in two categories, PUBG Mobile and Tekken, at the eSports World Cup to be held in Saudi Arabia next month.
