The corporation announced on the 17th that it received the "Blood Project Merit Award" at the "2024 Blood Donor's Day" event held in the main conference room of Busan City Hall on the 14th, in recognition of its efforts to stabilize the local blood supply on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day.
The Busan Mayor's Blood Project Merit Award is given to individuals and organizations who embody the humanitarian ideals of the Red Cross and contribute to the stable supply of blood in the region. This year, three institutions including BMC and seven citizens were selected as awardees.
BMC employees' "Life Sharing Blood Donation Campaign," aimed at overcoming the local blood supply crisis, has been ongoing since 2009.
In particular, during the past four years when blood reserves sharply declined due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, a total of 238 employees participated in 13 group blood donation drives to help secure the blood supply.
Kim Yonghak, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, said, "I am delighted to receive this meaningful award thanks to our employees' regular and voluntary participation in blood donation," and added, "The corporation will continue to fulfill its social responsibility and work together with all employees to spread a culture of warm sharing in the community."
