Proposal to Park Sang-woo, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport
Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok met with Park Sang-woo, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, on the 17th to propose the inclusion of regional priority projects such as the expansion of future-type highways in the Honam region and the establishment of a new high-speed rail line along the entire Jeolla Line in government policies.
According to Jeonnam Province, the main proposals include ▲designation of a national industrial complex for future advanced materials (Suncheon·Gwangyang) ▲inclusion of the Yeongam~Gwangju future-type ultra-highway in the national plan ▲inclusion of the Goheung~Gwangju space highway in the national plan ▲early approval of the preliminary feasibility study for the Gwangju~Wando Phase 2 highway (Gangjin~Wando section) ▲inclusion of the Yeosu~Suncheon highway in the national plan ▲promotion of the establishment of a new high-speed rail line along the entire Jeolla Line ▲and establishment of the Southern Coast Comprehensive Development Agency.
Minister Park Sang-woo stated, “The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will actively review to ensure that regional issues are reflected in national plans and other government policies in order to share the great intention of balanced development with local governments.”
Governor Kim Young-rok said, “The proposed social overhead capital (SOC) projects, such as the early expansion of future-type highways in the Honam region, are necessary not only for the development of Jeonnam but also for the future of the nation,” adding, “We will closely cooperate with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to ensure that the proposed projects receive government support as soon as possible.”
