Recently, a story has emerged about a man considering divorce because of the girl group aespa, who have been gaining immense popularity with their releases "Supernova" and "Armageddon."
On a recent online community where members verify their employment status before joining, a post titled "I fought with my wife, and I think I was wrong, please take a look" was uploaded. The author, Mr. A, who identified himself as a 35-year-old man, began by saying, "I am a fan of aespa's Winter. My wife is three years younger than me."
Mr. A explained, "I'm not the type of fan who follows concerts around or sets celebrity wallpapers. I just like aespa's songs, and I became a fan of Winter because she looked great with short hair." He added, "I've never bought any merchandise or albums. If someone asks me 'Which idol do you like?' I just answer 'I'm a fan of Winter.'"
The problem arose when aespa made a comeback with their first full-length album. Mr. A said, "When I heard aespa was releasing a full album, I asked my wife, 'Should I buy one copy of aespa's full album?'" He continued, "I was considering buying it because of my fandom and curiosity about how albums are released these days, but my wife gave me a stern look and scolded me, saying, 'That's disgusting. Don't you know there's more than a ten-year age gap between you and the aespa members?'"
Mr. A recounted, "I got angry at the word 'disgusting' and retorted, 'My mother-in-law follows trot singer Jeong Dong-won around, so is she disgusting too?' My mother-in-law follows Jeong Dong-won not only to domestic concerts but also overseas, and she even schedules family gatherings around his schedule on weekends. However, despite Mr. A's rebuttal, his wife continued to hurl insults like "disgusting" and "pervert" at him, and eventually, Mr. A revealed that he is considering divorce. He lamented, "I want to buy more than ten copies of aespa's full album and spread them out in the living room." He added, "I can't get a divorce because we have a child, and I feel wronged. My wife has been silent since yesterday, and I want to get divorced."

Meanwhile, aespa is a four-member multinational girl group under SM Entertainment that debuted on November 17, 2020. The members are Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning. From 2021 to 2023, they set records such as ranking first in album first-week sales among 4th generation girl groups for three consecutive years. Their recently released first full-length album "Armageddon" sold over one million copies, and the pre-release track "Supernova" achieved number one on various charts, marking a huge success.
