China's Industrial Production Up 5.6% and Retail Sales Up 3.7% in May (Supplement)

China's National Bureau of Statistics announced on the 17th that industrial production in China increased by 5.6% year-on-year in May. This figure is below both the expert forecast (6.2%) and the previous month's figure (6.7%).

Retail sales announced on the same day increased by 3.7%, surpassing both the previous month's figure (2.3%) and the forecast (3.0%). The unemployment rate in May was 5.0%, unchanged from the previous month (5.0%).
