Dongseo University (President Jang Jeguk) LINC 3.0 Project Group hosted the '2024 Media Festival for the Disabled' from June 12th to 14th. This marks the eighth consecutive year the festival has been held.

The 2024 Media Festival for the Disabled was organized by the Dongseo University LINC 3.0 Project Group, the Busan Audience Media Center of the Korea Media Foundation, the Busan Federation of Organizations of the Disabled, the Dongguk University LINC 3.0 Project Group, the Korea University of Media Arts LINC 3.0 Project Group, and the ICC Council for Content Fields.

This year's festival, held under the slogan "A Media World Where Everyone Meets," offered a variety of programs as a media culture festival enjoyed by both people with and without disabilities.

The opening ceremony took place on June 12th at the Busan Audience Media Center, attended by Chairman Cho Hankyu of the Foundation, President Cho Changyong of the Busan Federation of Organizations of the Disabled, Deputy Director Kim Jeongsuk of the Dongseo University LINC 3.0 Project Group, and representatives from local broadcasting companies.

At the Dongseo University LINC 3.0 Project Group Shared Collaboration Center, in collaboration with the Dongguk University LINC 3.0 Project Group, the Korea University of Media Arts LINC 3.0 Project Group, and the ICC Council for Content Fields, the barrier-free independent film "Will There Be Swans at Seokdaecheon?" (directed by Lee Seunghwa, a graduate of Dongseo University’s Department of Film) was screened at the small theater in the Busan Audience Media Center. This film received the Special Jury Prize at the 23rd Busan Independent Film Festival.

The ICC Council for Content Fields, which co-hosted the event, is a consultative body for the content field of LINC 3.0 Project Groups, established in June 2022 (Dongseo University XR Content ICC, Kyungil University XR Media ICC, Honam University Cultural Content ICC, Dongguk University DX Realistic Media ICC, Daejeon University Cultural Design Technology ICC, Hallym University Realistic Media Content ICC). It continuously runs shared collaboration programs for nurturing talent and commercializing technology development in the content sector.

Professor Lee Hyeondong of the Department of Computer Engineering, who has co-planned the Media Festival for the Disabled for eight years, said, "Dongseo University has been at the forefront of spreading barrier-free culture in the Busan area, and every year provides the outcomes of cultural content education programs in barrier-free versions for the Media Festival for the Disabled. Dongseo University will continue to promote barrier-free cultural content projects in the upcoming Glocal University 30 and the RISE system to be implemented next year, contributing to the enhancement of universal cultural welfare."

Hwang Kihyun, head of the Dongseo University LINC 3.0 Project Group, said, "We are delighted to hold the Media Festival for the Disabled for eight consecutive years. We hope that through this festival, more people will recognize the importance of media for the disabled and that it will bring about positive changes throughout society."
