With the People Power Party's national convention scheduled for the end of July, declarations from candidates for party leader or supreme council member are expected to continue this week. As the competitive landscape among the next party leadership contenders takes shape, a term referring to former emergency committee member Han Dong-hoon’s dominant position, "Eodaehan" (meaning "Anyway, the party leader is Han Dong-hoon"), has even emerged inside and outside the party. People Power Party lawmaker Lee Cheol-gyu drew a line on this, saying, "We have to open the lid to see the election results."

On the 17th, on KBS Radio's 'Jeonggyeok Sisa,' Lee said, "The term 'Eodaehan' is an insult to party members," adding, "It is not based on confirming with each individual party member, so it insults the decision-making rights of the party members."

Lee emphasized that the election results must be seen by opening the lid. He said, "The interests of party supporters and party members differ slightly," and added, "The notion that a specific person dominates the trend is not desirable even for the candidate themselves." Regarding the 'Han Dong-hoon dominant theory,' he said, "There are many people who hope for that."

Regarding the alleged conflict between President Yoon Suk-yeol and former emergency committee member Han Dong-hoon, he said, "(Han) is indeed the closest person to President Yoon within our party. They have worked together the longest and Han has received the greatest benefits." He added, "Party members believed that if Han were in charge, he would support the president’s governance well and lead the election to victory during difficult times, so he was appointed as emergency committee member. Therefore, the rumors of conflict with the president are undesirable."

Meanwhile, on not running in the first ruling party floor leader election of the 22nd National Assembly, Lee drew a line, saying, "I never intended to run from the start." He explained, "There are repeated claims that I withdrew my candidacy, but rather, I thought it was better not to run from the beginning." After the recent general election defeat, Lee also said, "After this election, I decided it would be appropriate to step back for a while, help someone, and play a role in party unity and cohesion."
