Slim 180cm Food Thief... 'Geu-al' Publicly Wanted for Goo Hara Safe Burglary

After the Funeral, Family Leaves Home Vacant and Intruder Breaks In
Steals Only a Safe About 30cm Wide and Tall and Flees

'Unanswered Questions' sheds new light on the safe theft case involving the late singer Goo Hara, formerly of the group Kara. They are also seeking tips to find the thief. At the end of the SBS current affairs program 'Unanswered Questions' (hereafter referred to as UQ) aired on the 15th, a preview for the 'Goo Hara Safe Theft Case' was shown. Goo Hara suddenly passed away in November 2019.

In the preview, Goo Hara's biological older brother appeared and said, "After the 49th-day memorial service for my sister, one of her acquaintances asked, 'Brother, where is the safe?'" He added, "We stayed up all night searching through the footage. The video cuts off as the CCTV is covered with leaves." A close acquaintance of Goo Hara stated, "It was someone familiar, who knew what was inside the safe." Earlier, in January 2020, after Goo Hara's funeral procedures were completed and the family had left the house, a man broke into her Cheongdam-dong residence. The suspect captured on CCTV wore glasses and a mask to cover his face and gloves on his hands. This man tried entering the front door by pressing the password, and when it did not open, he climbed the wall and entered the house through the second-floor veranda.

The video captured a man climbing over the wall. The program "Geu Geot-i Algo Sipda" stated, "We are receiving tips about this man," adding, "He is approximately 180 cm tall with a slim build. He is estimated to be in his 20s to 30s and is wearing prescription glasses."

The production team also released footage from the external closed-circuit television (CCTV) of Goo Hara's residence. The video captured a man climbing over the wall. UQ stated, "We are accepting tips about this man," and described him as "approximately 180 cm tall with a slim build, estimated to be in his 20s to 30s, wearing prescription glasses." This man stole only a safe about 30 cm in width and height and fled, leaving other expensive items untouched. The safe is known to have contained contracts and old mobile phones previously used by Goo Hara.

Goo Hara's acquaintances believe that since the perpetrator naturally entered the front door by pressing the password and was well aware of the house's interior layout, this man was either someone who knew Goo Hara well or a third party acting under the direction of such an acquaintance. At the time, the police investigated the case for over nine months but ultimately could not identify the culprit, and the investigation was closed. UQ's episode on the 'Goo Hara Safe Theft Case' is scheduled to air on the 22nd.
