The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that from the 17th to the 19th, it will hold the '2024 Green Hydrogen Global Forum' at the Jeju International Convention Center (ICC) in collaboration with Jeju Special Self-Governing Province to share global clean hydrogen trends and policies and discuss cooperation measures.
Following last year, this is the second time the forum is being held, with about 400 participants including overseas government officials, ambassadors from major countries (Germany, Norway, Denmark, etc.), and domestic and international hydrogen experts. At the opening ceremony, keynote speeches will be delivered by James F. Miller (Deputy Director of the U.S. Argonne National Laboratory) and Marco Albera (author of 'Hydrogen Resource Revolution'), followed by a 'Leadership Dialogue.'
On the second day, discussions will focus on ▲ establishing the entire clean hydrogen cycle (production, storage, transportation, utilization) ▲ strategies to activate distributed energy. In the distributed energy activation session, domestic and international hydrogen experts will discuss sector coupling strategies that convert surplus renewable energy into hydrogen, and a platform will be provided to explore solidarity among local governments (Jeju, Jeonbuk, Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, Chungbuk, etc.) to promote distributed energy activation.
On the final day of the forum, a green hydrogen field visit will be conducted for the general public. Participants will ride a hydrogen bus to visit the Jeju Haengwon water electrolysis demonstration complex and Hamdeok hydrogen charging station, where they can directly see and experience Korea’s first commercial green hydrogen model that produces hydrogen using renewable energy and supplies it to hydrogen cars and buses.
Choi Nam-ho, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, said in his welcoming remarks, "Cooperation and solidarity among countries are crucial to realizing a hydrogen economy based on clean hydrogen," adding, "I hope that governments and domestic and international experts will actively exchange information and seek mutual cooperation measures at this forum."
