Gyeonggi Province is accepting applications for the ‘31st Gyeonggi Province Farmers and Fishermen Awards’ from the 17th of this month until August 2nd.
On the 17th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will select 20 recipients, either individuals or producer organizations, across 15 categories for the ‘Gyeonggi Province Farmers and Fishermen Awards,’ recognizing those who have contributed to securing competitiveness in agriculture and fisheries and to the development of local communities this year.
In particular, this year, to enhance fairness and competitiveness of the awards, the women’s and youth categories have been separated, and the life sciences and digital categories have been integrated. Additionally, to discover more farmers and fishermen with notable achievements, the number of awardees has been increased from 15 to 20, and the application period has been extended by more than 15 days.
Eligible applicants are farmers and fishermen or producer organizations who have agricultural or fishery management sites within the province or are directly engaged in these activities.
Gyeonggi Province will provide awardees with a grand prize plaque and various benefits such as priority support for agricultural funds.
Gong Jeong-sik, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Agriculture, Fisheries and Life Sciences Bureau, stated, "Active participation from farmers and fishermen and proactive promotion by cities and counties are necessary to ensure that applications from various sectors with special achievements are not overlooked." He added, "We expect the Gyeonggi Province Farmers and Fishermen Awards to help boost the morale of agricultural and fishery workers in the province."
