Discovering Vulnerable Households Through Local Resident Reports and Providing Customized Welfare Services via Integrated Case Management
Actively Utilizing Public and Private Resources to Address Welfare Blind Spots
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is focusing on realizing customized welfare through integrated case management.
Recently, the Myeonmok 5-dong Community Service Center visited a single-person household following a report from a local resident asking to check on a neighbor in need. The subject, a middle-aged single-person household, was socially isolated with no communication with neighbors or others outside. The house was filled with garbage, and due to the unsanitary environment, the individual was in a crisis with poor health conditions.
The community service center staff immediately selected the individual as a case management target and held an integrated case meeting, where representatives from 11 public and private organizations including the district and dong community service centers, local medical institutions, and comprehensive welfare centers gathered to explore various support measures.
Based on this, the district prepared customized welfare services that promote both health management and living stability. Support measures tailored to the subject’s situation include emergency support and Care SOS from the community service center, medical expense support through the Jungnang Health Breakwater policy of Green Hospital, clean care service support from the Jungnang Residential Safety Comprehensive Center, free installation of lighting fixtures by SH Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation, and support for purchased rental housing.
Integrated case management is a social welfare project that, as in the example above, integrally connects and provides services such as welfare, health, employment, housing, and education according to the complex and diverse needs (demands) of the target, while continuously offering counseling and monitoring.
The district plans to actively utilize established public and private resources to support welfare services tailored to each individual and strives to eliminate welfare blind spots.
Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi said, “We will do our best to make Jungnang-gu a place where the community comes together to discover and help households in crisis so that no neighbors are left isolated and everyone can live a healthy and happy life.”
