Dobong-gu Creates Public Parking Lot Under National Railway Overpass at Dobong Station... Operation Starts in July
Construction Began After Site Use Approval in April, Securing 34 Parking Spaces Alongside Pedestrian Path
District Mayor Oh Eon-seok: "A Long-standing Resident Complaint Resolved, Will Continue Expanding Parking Lots"
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) has created a public parking lot with a total of 34 spaces under the national railway overpass at Dobong Station (Dobong-dong 59-1).
The district announced that, as the lease period for the used car dealership expired, the site was converted into a public parking lot and will begin full operation starting July.
A district official stated, "With the creation of this public parking lot, the previously dark space under the overpass has been newly renovated, greatly improving the local environment."
The site had been occupied by a used car dealership for over 20 years, causing significant inconvenience to nearby residents who had to detour about 250 meters to reach Dobong-ro.
In response, the district obtained site usage permission from the Korea National Railway Corporation in April after continuous consultations, then commenced construction, securing a pedestrian walkway and completing the public parking lot.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "The creation of the public parking lot under the Dobong Station overpass has not only alleviated parking difficulties in the area but also resolved long-standing complaints from local residents. We will continue to actively promote projects to expand public parking lots to secure more parking spaces."
The district is implementing various projects annually to ease parking shortages, such as removing fences from green parking lots and opening affiliated parking lots. This year, it signed a free-use agreement for two plots of land owned by Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH) and created a total of 16 parking spaces. User recruitment is scheduled to take place in June.
