Create Fake Pages Resembling Actual News Agency Designs
Request Naver and KCC to Block Access
Fake news has emerged that impersonates Min Hee-jin, CEO of ADOR, and KBS anchor Park Jang-beom to induce investments.
On the 16th, an article titled "Bank of Korea files a lawsuit over Min Hee-jin's remarks on live broadcast" was posted on social media (SNS) such as Facebook. Clicking the article link opens a fake page resembling the design of a Financial News reporter's media website.
The article includes a subtitle stating, "We obtained the cut scenes from an exclusive interview on the KBS channel." A photo of Min Hee-jin, CEO of ADOR, appearing on KBS 'News 9' last month on the 31st, having a conversation with anchor Park Jang-beom, was attached.
The content contains a statement attributed to CEO Min saying, "Give me your phone, and I will make you money. I just signed you up for Trade iPlex 360. This platform is a 100% perfect solution for those who want to get rich quickly."
At first glance, it may be easy to be deceived, but upon closer inspection, awkward content and sentence structures reveal it as fake news. However, if one fails to notice this and clicks the link, they may become a victim of phishing, so special caution is required.
Naver has requested the Korea Communications Standards Commission to block access in relation to this matter.
This phishing crime, which induced access to investment solicitation sites through such impersonation articles, is not the first case. In January, fake news titled "Bank of Korea files a lawsuit over Song Joong-ki's remarks on live broadcast" was posted on various SNS, causing controversy. The article, claimed to be released by Dong-A Ilbo, included photos of JTBC Newsroom, anchor Kang Ji-young, and actor Song Joong-ki, who appeared as a guest in the exclusive interview.
At that time, JTBC announced legal action, stating, "The images that appear to be news posted on portal sites are clear falsehoods and fabrications."
