Leading Efforts to Improve Housing Conditions for Meritorious Individuals

HD Hyundai announced on the 16th that it conducted graveyard cleanup volunteer activities at the National Seoul Memorial Cemetery in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, and the National Yeongcheon Memorial Cemetery in Yeongcheon-si, Gyeongbuk, in observance of the Month of Patriots and Veterans.

A total of about 140 employees participated in the graveyard cleanup volunteer activities held over two days on the 24th of last month and the 14th of this month. They began with flower offerings and paying respects to the patriotic martyrs, followed by volunteer activities such as removing weeds around the graves, planting flowers, cleaning tombstones, and maintaining the Taegeukgi flags.

Since establishing a sisterhood relationship with the National Memorial Cemetery in 2015, HD Hyundai has carried out regular annual graveyard cleanup volunteer activities.

They also run an employee donation campaign for national merit recipients. At the HD Hyundai Global R&D Center located in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, a donation kiosk operated by employees is in place, continuing fundraising activities throughout June targeting national merit recipients and descendants of independence patriots.

Additionally, since 2021, in cooperation with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, HD Hyundai has been promoting the "National Merit Recipients House Remodeling Project," investing approximately 400 million KRW to improve the deteriorated living environments of 10 households of Korean War veterans and families of the Cheonan ship heroes.

They have also formed sisterhood relationships with military units, donating construction equipment and vans, providing sports facilities for soldiers, and conducting linkage activities to support the welfare of military personnel and assist veterans in finding employment.

The HD Hyundai 1% Sharing Foundation, operated through a 1% salary donation from employees, has been supporting the Navy Scholarship Foundation for five years since 2020, providing assistance to children of Navy war casualties and deceased personnel.

An HD Hyundai official said, "We prepared this event to give back, even if just a little, to those who have dedicated themselves to the country," adding, "We will continue to strive to support with the belief that the country's prosperity is our prosperity."
