This represents a 64% increase compared to the previous year.

Among Korean vehicles, Hyundai's sports utility vehicle (SUV) Tucson ranked highest at 15th place, with sales increasing 25% year-on-year to 423,000 units. Following was the sedan Avante (Elantra), which increased by 5% to 399,000 units, ranking 17th.
Among Chinese brands, BYD's electric sedan 'Qin' made significant progress, ranking 12th with 473,000 units sold. Jato Dynamics reported that Chinese automakers led by BYD sold 13.4 million new cars worldwide last year, surpassing American companies like Ford, which sold 11.9 million units, propelling China to 3rd place in the overall rankings.
Brand market share by country was in the order of Japan (29.1%), Europe (24.9%), China (17.9%), the United States (15.2%), and South Korea (8.5%).
Jato Dynamics also reported that last year, SUVs and crossovers sold 36.72 million units worldwide, achieving the highest market share ever recorded. This accounts for nearly half of the global vehicle sales.
Jato Dynamics stated, "Last year's global vehicle sales results were very unusual," adding, "because electric vehicles surpassed traditional leaders such as the Toyota RAV4 and Corolla."
